Could someone please explain What the difference is between, Samba-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm and Samba-client-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm and Samba-common-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm Which one do i need to upgrade my samba server on lm8.1 many thanks Ken
Samba is the server.. Samba-client is the client used to connect to remote servers Samba-common are common files used by both the server and client. I personally would upgrade all 3 at the same time... but you can just upgrade Samba and Samba-common.> -----Original Message----- > From: Ken Walker [mailto:ken.walker@textiles.umist.ac.uk] > Sent: Monday, December 23, 2002 2:58 PM > To: 'samba@lists.samba.org' > Subject: [Samba] What the difference between > > > Could someone please explain What the difference is between, > > Samba-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm > > and > > Samba-client-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm > > and > > Samba-common-2.2.2-3.3mdk.i586.rpm > > Which one do i need to upgrade my samba server on lm8.1 > > many thanks > > Ken > -- > To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the > instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba >
Ken, No difference, you need them all - together they make up samba-2.2.2 for Mandrake. Mandrake (like other Linux vendors) split up the files over a group of packages. - John T.
