Samba Gurus, I've recently built a new Solaris samba server to replace an older one, the older one is running 2.0.7 & the new one is running 2.2.2. I pretty much just copied over the the smb.conf file & made some small adjustments via swat - the options are a bit different. The old server was just the way we needed it.....but now that the new server has gone live it appears we are having numerous permissions issues....users are reporting they cannot write to directories that they own or should have access to because they are members of the unix group that has write permission to a particular directory. Yesterday I was testing some settings & for kicks I changed the Create directory mask to 777 from 775(default) on a share.....this actually fixed one problem for a user - I thought it would be a band-aid until I could learn more. But today the flood gates have opened & now other users that could write things yesterday (before my change), cannot do so today...users that actually OWN the directories!....(works fine from native Unix). Any suggestions/ideas on what may be happening, and/or what differences between 2.0.7 & 2.2.2 are that could be affecting this problem? Thanks in advance! ---------------------------------------------------------- Gene L. Huft Unix Systems SPU Information Technology City of Seattle 206.233.7833
