Hello all, I've got a strange problem with Samba 2.2.4. I'm able to associate print drivers to printers (raw queue in cups). My clients are able to see that the drivers belong to the printers, and they download them, but as soon as the server reboots, I lose my driver associations and I need to once again specify a driver on the windows end. The Print server was an upgrade from Samba 2.2.2 running RedHat 7.2 and CUPS 1.1.14. I reverted back to 2.2.2 and everything is again working fine, but I'm wondering why this is happening with 2.2.4 Thanks for your help -Nick

Can you check this please. Did you build from source or are you using a pre-packaged version? cheers, jerry --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hewlett-Packard http://www.hp.com SAMBA Team http://www.samba.org -- http://www.plainjoe.org "Sam's Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours" 2ed. Forwarding to list... I accidentally sent it to Gerald's personal address. I built from source, but I've reverted back to 2.2.2, so my 2.2.4 installation is gone. On 2.2.2, I've got several *.tdb files in /var/log/samba/locks (which I know is wrong) I must have entered a wrong statement when I configured it. Which configure statement affects that, and where might a typical location be? thanks for your help (again) Gerald -Nick On Wed, 2002-05-08 at 12:50, Gerald Carter wrote:> On 8 May 2002, Nick Pietraniec wrote: > > > > > > > Hello all, I've got a strange problem with Samba 2.2.4. I've got mine set to /var/spool/lock --with-lockdir=/var/spool/lock is the option when running ./configure; look in your 2.2.2 Makefile to see where those .tdb's would be located. Check your Makefile for proper dir's-I had to edit it to fix the sysconfdir= entry. For some reason it ignored it in my input file... You may have some hosed defaults in it, which would lead to odd behavior. I had to change my samba spool dir's when I went from Mandrake to OpenBSD, as OBSD flushed /tmp on restarts. All of my spool dir's would go away on restarts. Now my print spool dirs are set to: lprng=/var/spool/lpd (in /etc/printcap) samba=/var/spool/samba (in /etc/samba/smb.conf) Jim> -----Original Message----- > From: Nick Pietraniec [mailto:nickp@campbellco.com] > Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2002 1:46 PM > To: samba@lists.samba.org > Subject: RE: [Samba] losing print driver associations on reboot > > > I believe I had 2.2.4 configured with --with-lockdir=/var/lock/samba > > I'll have to give it another go; at least I know where to look now. > > thanks > > On Wed, 2002-05-08 at 16:27, Van Sickler, Jim wrote: > > I've got mine set to /var/spool/lock > > > > --with-lockdir=/var/spool/lock > > > > is the option when running ./configure; > > > > look in your 2.2.2 Makefile to see where those > > .tdb's would be located. > > > > Jim > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: Nick Pietraniec [mailto:nickp@campbellco.com] > > > Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2002 10:27 AM > > > To: samba@lists.samba.org > > > Subject: Re: [Samba] losing print driver associations on reboot > > > > > > > > > Forwarding to list...
