Rails - Aug 2006 - Wazzup with the rubyonrails-talk Google Group?

I just got a Google Groups notification that I had been
subscribed to http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-talk.
Looking at the page, it appears that about 4300 folks have
been subscribed.  However, I saw nothing about this on
rails@lists.rubyonrails.org.  Wazzup?

I suspect rather than host the mailing list themselves, they decided to just
use Google Groups.  Searching the forum just got a whole lot easier!

I know Jason is one of the list-admins but I deleted the notice I got
out-right thinking it was a phish.

Can we get confirmation from either list-admins?

I don''t disbelieve it but I dunno, making a major change on a
high-traffic email list and then having to hear about it on a blog
posting instead of y''know... on said list from the people who are
supposed to *manage* the list, seems... Strange?

The problem I have with not having a {Rails] (or whatever) tag in the Subject:,
and having to filter just on the To: string, occurs when someone CC:s my
personal email in addition to replying to the list.  End up with the copies in
the general in-box rather than the list folder.

You could add a filter on "CC", filter on "To or CC" or
better on the
"List-Id" header, which is the less likely to make filtering errors.

Could we get back to Rails related discussions ? MUA configuration 
problems could really be discussed elsewhere...

I use gmail and I only filter on "Has the words:
rails@lists.rubyonrails.org"


and this works great, no need for filtering on To, CC, From etc
