Only by having your own modified version of panel.bwplot, which contains
box.dot <- trellis.par.get("box.dot")
box.rectangle <- trellis.par.get("box.rectangle")
box.umbrella <- trellis.par.get("box.umbrella")
plot.symbol <- trellis.par.get("plot.symbol")
