R help - Jun 2003 - Pairs with different colours

Does anybody know how to make pairs graphics with dots of different colours
depending on the value of a categorical variable ?

It is clearly documented.  It's the first example:
 data(iris)
 pairs(iris[1:4], main = "Anderson's Iris Data -- 3 species",
