Sorry, but this is a question about the installation of unixODBC, not of RODBC. Several of us have test-installed RODBC on systems which do have unixODBC installed. That message indicates that the unixODBC libraries cannot be found. FWIW, the current version appears to be 2.2.3, and that comes with a program isql to test ODBC connections. That may help you debug this. Check what: rpm -qa | grep <your_target> says - if there is no *-devel-* package, install it!
