RODBC, freetds, and MS SQL Server
I have a question for RODBC users out there. I have used the package with
good results for some time. However, I have just switched from an OpenLink
proprietary driver for MS SQL to the FreeTDS driver (I think it is MS SQL
Server 2000 I'm connecting to if it matters). I was/am running them from
unixODBC on a Linux Client. I think I have it set up fine since I can use
"isql"

subject and remain unsuccessful to determine the
solution. In brief, my situation is:
1. Running FreeBSD 4.9 Stable in x86
2. Installed, and running, R 1.8.1
3. Installed, and running, postgreSQL 7.4.2
4. Installed, and running, unixODBC 2.2.8
5. Failed, repeatedly, to install RODBC. The

unixODBC, RODBC, and DB2
All-
Does anyone on the list have experience with building RODBC from source
on a Linux box for use with DB2?
I am using (all from source):

unixODBC 2.2.9
RODBC 1.1-3
For example:

RODBC on Mac OSX pointers?
Hi,
I'm trying to get to grips with accessing my postgresql tables in R
using RODBC. I have Mac OS 10.2.8 (Darwin 6.8) installed and R 1.8.0
installed from source and I have updated RODBC to 1.0-4.
On the ODBC manager end, I am using OpenLink software's iODBC
Administrator and I've set up a User DSN called "PostGRES" - odbctest
suggests that this is functioning:

rodbc or unixodbc error
Hi,
I'm trying to establish a connection to a MySQL database, and am using the
rodbc package for it. This is in a GNU/Debian Linux box, with the
corresponding Debian unstable packages. I can login to my MySQL databases
from any shell and directory, so the problem is probably not there. Here's
an example of what I'm doing:
R> odbcConnect("test",

RODBC on linux
Anyone out there using Linux RODBC and unixODBC to connect to a
Microsoft SQL server?
If possible can someone post a sample .odbc.ini file?
I saw a few discussions on the archives a few years ago, but no config
file details were available.
Thanks,
Whit

RODBC - problems using odbcDriverConnect without DSN
Hi,
I'm trying to use RODBC without having to set up a DSN, using hte
direct connection string in odbcDriverConnect. My connection attempt
looks something like:
> odbcDriverConnect(connection = "SERVER=localhost;DRIVER={/usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so};DATABASE=myDB;UID=reader;PASSWORD=insecure;")
And this returns the message:

FW: Problems connecting with MySQL using odbcDriverConnect (RODBC package) on Linux
I think I figured this out. I should not have put the Driver name in
braces. Changing it from {MySQL} to MySQL seems to work.

shared libraries on FreeBSD 4.*
I've used R for a couple of years on FreeBSD with few problems. Recently,
a couple of the contributed packages seem to have difficulty finding
symbols in the shared libraries. Currently, I'm running R 1.3.1 on FreeBSD
4.4. I've tried setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/lib
and some other things. The packages I've had trouble with are:
Matrix 0.3.15
RODBC 0.8.3
RSPython 0.3

RODBC
Hi,
I have installed RODBC on FreeBSD 4.9 and I am using the PostgreSQL ODBC
Driver that is distributed with unixODBC 2.2.8. I can access ODBC Data
Sources from Open Office so I think that everything is properly
installed. When I installed RODBC I had to set
export LIBS=-L/usr/local/lib
so that R could locate my ODBC manager.
I do not have any problems opening database connections and qurey

RODBC: how to set the data-source?
Hello,
I want to try to connect R to PostgreSQL.
I have found that there are three ways:
DBI or RODBC or RPostgreSQL.
I tried around with DBI and RODBC but didn't get it running.
In both cases I'm not clear about how to set the driver/data source.
I get this error:
