[Asterisk-Users] Re: two computers set up ... now what?
*** Now you just need a "phone" or "station" (FXS) device and a method of connecting it. *** So... essentially I need to spend another $125 US on a Wildcard TDM400P so I can plug in an analog phone? On the X100P description it says: "The X100P supports FXS Loopstart and "Kewlstart" (Loopstart with far end disconnection supervision). It can detect ringing and remote hangup and fully supports Pseudo-TDM bridging through Zaptel" So this is telling me that the X100P will function only with an FXS device... is this correct? Sorry for the 'simplistic' questions, but I don't have much of a telecom background. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? X100P is one FXS port Martin On Thu, 24 Apr 2003, Derek Beaumont wrote:> *** > Now you just need a "phone" or "station" (FXS) device and a method of > connecting it. > *** > > So... essentially I need to spend another $125 US on a Wildcard TDM400P so I > can plug in an analog phone? > > On the X100P description it says: > "The X100P supports FXS Loopstart and "Kewlstart" (Loopstart with far end > disconnection supervision). (FXO devices uses FXS signaling, and vice versa) When you setup your Asterisk configuration, you'll have to keep this signaling vs. interface stuff in mind.> Sorry for the 'simplistic' questions, but I don't have much of a telecom > background. No problem! We all gotta start somewhere! -wade
At 06:37 PM 4/24/2003 -0500, you wrote:>X100P is one FXS portno it is not - it is 1 x fxo port it is signalled using fxs signalling, but the port is an fxo. yes you are correct in your assumptions about the tdm card or any of the other options Wade or I mentioned. To clarify the port names - they are named by what plugs into them. O hooks to the central Office S hooks to your Station (phone) The signalling type used is the device the port appears as to the other end of the line. eg: the FXO card appears to the CO as a station so it signals using FXS signalling.
