Xen users - Nov 2008 - running x server on domU without graphics hardware

Hi, is there any solution to running X on domU, when not using hvm?
I''ve tried
using vncserver/tightvnc, but it doesn''t support many X extentsions
(notably
randr) and gnome does weird things, because parts of it keep crashing without
randr extenstion.
