[Xen-users] Rebooting Windows guests when running xm reboot
I just installed Windows 2008 x86_64 on Xen 3.2 that I compiled from source on CentOS 5.1. Are there any windows guest tools available that run shutdown when I issue xm reboot in dom0? Alternatively, you can just install the service w/ .Net if you don''t want the drivers. jlc _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I just installed it and after disabling signature enforcement, it loaded the drivers, but did the same thing that happens to other people, it detected the drives twice, once as QEMU and once as XEN PV. This hosed one of my systems, but the other one seemed to work after a reboot. The second drives were disabled, but the shutdown monitor was still not installed? I got all the drivers working, including the network driver, but it just won''t allow any traffic through it. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I just reinstalled and hosted my 32 bit windows again. When I first install it, I get a bunch of warning about driver signing, and I say to install anyway. Then I reboot, and the PCI device is shown as not installed properly. I update the drivers at which point I see two of everything. I think reboot and windows is hosed. Is there a proper way to install these drivers? Russ _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

See Start -> All Programs -> Xen PV Drivers -> Install Shutdown Service. Then go into ''Services'' and double click on ''Xen Shutdown Monitor Service'', and make sure that the service ''Startup Type'' is set to ''Automatic'' - otherwise you will have to start it manually. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

The .net shutdown monitor by itself is not sufficient. (btw, if anyone wants to re-write shutdownmon in C instead of C# it would remove the dependency on .net...) I was sure that was all fixed. Can you tell me if xenhide is loaded? If it is, you should see it as a ''class filter'' when you look at the device properties, and there should also be a key called ''HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\xenhide'' in regedit. Click on OK to terminate the application." This is on RHEL-5.2/Xen-3.2.1/XP-SP3/gplpv-0.9.6. Any ideas? I believe this was on x64 and I think it went away on a reboot. I am testing Xen right now for our production environment, and I would be happy to test these drivers for you on a variety of OS''s. (I have an MS Technet subscription, so I can get pretty much any MS OS.). I will likely test this on Win2k3 x86 and x86_64 and Win2k8 x86 and x86_64. If you need any sort of logs, or would like me to run any debug tools to help you troubleshoot things, please let me know. Also you probably need to put something in the wiki about disabling signature enforcement or enabling testsigning on Vista and 2k8. Feel free to add it yourself :) I haven''t actually tested the drivers under 2k8x64 so I am not familiar with the testsign procedure yet.
