Xen users - Mar 2007 - Opteron 850''s needing a home

Hello to all, 

I''ve lucked onto a case of Opteron 850''s and hope to try some
4 way and
8 way systems with Xen.

Can someone recommend a good 8x or even 4x socket 940 board that will be
condusive to a good experience with Xen? This will be only for
Paravirtualized guests (3.0.4).

My hope is to play more with Xen''s credit scheduler and try some of the
arch mixing possible in 3.0.4-testing.

Thanks in advance for recommendations, especially any from Camp AMD,
though I know you can''t really ''officially'' recommend
one board over
another.

There are no 8X boards.

You can, however, "bridge" two 4X boards together using special
hardware.
Look to Tyan for that.

Tyan "owns" the 4X/8X space in AMD server space, as far as "white
box"
work is concerned. Would say you should go with a Tyan offering of some
sort.

I have a Tyan S4882 based server running Xen 3.0.2 with 4 Opteron
850''s. It''s
been running stably ever since SuSE 10.0 came out.

I was looking at the Tyan 8 way systems, VX50, which look very good, but have 
been swayed by a "buy 1 get 1 free" offer from Sun for a couple of
SunFire
X4600M2 with 8 8218''s in :-)
