samba - Apr 2005 - samba user1 -> samba user2 migrating - how?

I have a situation like that:

Samba as a domain controller with roaming profiles enabled; Windows 200 SP4.

Old user Joe with a roaming profile (doesn't work anymore).
New user Bob which has to use Joe's roaming profile.


Simply adding user "bob" to the system and renaming the old profile 
(home/samba/profiles/joe) to a new name (/home/samba/profiles/bob) 
doesn't work.
Well of course the files get copied from Samba to the workstation when 
user "bob" logs on for the first time; but he can't really use the
system then (Internet Explorer complaining about Active X etc. when 
using it for file browsing).


Anyone could help?

If you have the Windows Domain Tools (User Manager for Domains in 
particular) you could rename the user Joe to Bob.

1) Open user Manager for Domains
2) Click on the user Joe to highlite it
3) In the menu, choose User->Rename
4) Enter Bob in Change to.
5) You can then go back into the "new" Bob user and Edit full name, 
description, password, etc.

Sure! That is what should happen. The profile NTUser.DAT file is specifically 
encoded to the users' SID. If you want to permit another user to share a 
profile, or want to transfer ownership of the profile the correct procedure 
must be followed.

It is possible to use the 'profiles' utility to change the SID to that
of the
new user.

For profile sharing it is necessary to use the appropriate methods Microsoft 
have documented to convert the profile into a group profile.
