[Wine] Seeking help with Money 2000: access to internet
I am fairly new to Linux and have set up a laptop with the default installation of Ubuntu 10.10. I have installed Wine 1.2.2 and have used it to install some old Windows programs that I don't want to be without. Generally they work fine and I am very pleased. However I have one problem with Money 2000: it crashes when I ask it to connect to the internet in order to update the prices of stocks and shares. This is recorded as a known 'bug' on the Wine AppDB. I have read the bug report but I cannot understand it since I don't have a technical background. My simple question is, is it possible to get Money 2000 to access the internet? Has anyone managed it? I see from the notes on Money 2004 (in the AppDB) that someone has managed to get that version working, but they way they installed it seems very complex and I don't fully understand it. Any help you can give will be appreciated! Thanks in advance John

[Wine] Re: Seeking help with Money 2000: access to internet
@ dimesio: Thanks for your reply and apologies for the delay in responding. (It was my wife's birthday yesterday and we were rather busy!) I have another laptop with Windows XP installed (on which Money runs happily) and I have looked on there and found several versions of oleaut32.dll, they seem to be from different Windows updates over the years. The oldest is dated November 1999 so I am inclined to try that. Your post says that I need to 'copy it ... and then set the override manually'. Can you tell me where I should copy it to on my Linux machine? When you say 'set the override', do you mean setting it in the Wine configuration dialogue? @ James McKenzie: Thanks for your reply. However as you see I am inclined to try another version of the .dll file first, since this is already a documented bug. If that doesn't work I will come back to your suggestion. Thanks to you both for your help. John
