I hate to bump a dying thread....but *BUMP* everything seems to work fine until after I click install. Then the installer(rosetta, not wine) says that it closed prematurely. The files are in the Program Files directory but all I get is a MASSIVE debug list which I'll post if anyone is willing to help
Which version of Wine? i.e. what does wine --version say? Looking at your log, things like winetricks msxml4 winetricks ie6 might help, not sure. See also http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18861
wine is version 1.0.1 Thank you for your help, I installed cabextract and ie6 and it worked. I had msxml4 installed earlier but there was no effect. I guess we will never know without testing. I would never have thought ie6 would have been useful for something :D Thanks again
daedalus456 wrote:> wine is version 1.0.1why????? at LEAST run 1.2.2 ... better yet run the 1.3 devel branch newest version. 1.0.1 is WAAAAY too old
wait what? apt told me it was up to date!?!
daedalus456 wrote:> wait what? apt told me it was up to date!?!it lied! make sure you have an updated repo, or build from source I guess.... I dunno, i stay away from Linux with Wine.
Im compiling the new version now (1.3.9) I hope this fixes rosetta from failing on start. It was fine at first but then it just kept saying "application error"
daedalus456 wrote:> It was fine at first but then it just kept saying "application error"Have you removed /renamed wineprefix and reinstall it?
No, I tried using the uninstaller but it just says "...encountered critical error..." or something like that, so I just ran the install again hoping it would overwrite everything. But now, rosetta doesnt recognize the lessons I have installed. I can select my user but after that, it just displays the background image; rosetta stays responsive.
daedalus456 wrote:> I cleared wine and reinstalled it and rosetta stone. However, it still doesnt load the lessons.Terminal output?

I got Rosetta Stone to display the language level select menu. I reinstalled(again) and I got the same problem, so I thought that maybe some combination of not updating the languages/menu spam would work...which it did. Basically, I installed RU_L1 to ../users/App*/Ro*/content (I had to create a sym link to /root/.wine so I could browse .wine in the file browser for rosetta) and then updated the language and restarted rosetta stone. Then, I install RU_L2 and did NOT update and then restarted so I could get back to the user select page (sign out was not available). I then tried to reinstall RU_L3 but it wasnt displayed for some reason. I then edited the address of the RU_L2 folder(it was detected) to point to RU_l3 to see if it was a detection error or a drive location error. I the only detected RU_L1 so RU_L3 must be messed up(unrelated) I then hit cancel and selected my user...and the level select menu came up. Somewhere in there is the answer to fixing this problem.
