[zfs-discuss] Comparison between the S-TEC Zeus and the Intel X25-E ??
I''m looking at the newly-orderable (via Sun) STEC Zeus SSDs, and they''re outrageously priced. http://www.stec-inc.com/product/zeusssd.php I just looked at the Intel X25-E series, and they look comparable in performance. At about 20% of the cost. http://www.intel.com/design/flash/nand/extreme/index.htm Can anyone enlighten me as to any possible difference between an STEC Zeus and an Intel X25-E ? I mean, other than those associated with the fact that you can''t get the Intel one orderable through Sun right now. -- Erik Trimble Java System Support Mailstop: usca22-123 Phone: x17195 Santa Clara, CA Timezone: US/Pacific (GMT-0800)

The Intel part does about a fourth as many synchronous write IOPS at best. [zfs-discuss] Comparison between the S-TEC Zeus and the Intel X25-E
I have been testing the 32 GB X25-E last week. When I connect it to one of the onboard (tyan 2925) sata ports, it''s not detected by opensolaris 2008.11. When I connect it to an PCIE LSI 3081 , The disk is found But I''m getting trouble when I run performance tests via filebench. Filebench exports the zpool before every test to flush the cache, here is were the test is sompletely frozen. via dmseg I see: Jan 21 01:35:15 bocpu01 scsi: [ID 365881 kern.notice] /pci at 0,0/pci10de,376 at a/pci1000,3140 at 0 (mpt0): Jan 21 01:35:15 bocpu01 Log info 0x31130000 received for target 18.
