zfs discuss - Nov 2008 - slice overlap error when creating pools

Hi,

As I was experimenting with snv101, I discovers that every attempt to create
a zpool gives this error:

#zpool create pool1 c1d1s0
invalid vdev specification
use ''-f'' to override the following errors:
/dev/dsk/c1d1s0 overlaps with /dev/dsk/c1d1s2

I am testing with vmware, so I used the same virtual disk in a snv77
install, and I don''t get any error.

Here''s a summary of the partition table (I cannot paste because I
don''t have
network configured in my vm):

                                            Cylinders
s0: unassigned      wm          3-102     100.0MB
s2:       backup       wu           0-200     201.0MB
s3: unassigned      wm      103-200      98.0MB
s8:            boot      wu            0-0           1.0MB
s9:   alternates      wm           1-2            2.0MB

Any input on this ?

So it''s safe to use the pool after forcing its creation. Good.

i was surprised to see it working properly in snv77 but not in snv101.
