slice overlap error when creating pools
Hi, As I was experimenting with snv101, I discovers that every attempt to create a zpool gives this error: #zpool create pool1 c1d1s0 invalid vdev specification use ''-f'' to override the following errors: /dev/dsk/c1d1s0 overlaps with /dev/dsk/c1d1s2 I am testing with vmware, so I used the same virtual disk in a snv77...

zfs hanging during reads
...MB/sec. The array is 89% full at the moment after copying over alot of files recently. In short, I''m having troubles with reads to the point where the pool is near hanging up completely, and in some cases it does and I have to restart the box. When I first built this box (initially was snv101) it was working ok, but I''ve not really attempted to do much reading from it, just been copying large avi files over (some up to 12-20GB each)....but now I need to read from it. Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
Like many others, I am looking to put together a SOHO NAS based on ZFS/CIFS. The plan is 6 x 1TB drives in RAIDZ2 configuration, driven via mobo with 6 SATA ports. I''ve read most, if not all, of the threads here, as well as sbredon''s excellent article on building a home NAS, yet I still have a number of unanswered questions. I was leaning heavily towards the M2N-E for a while,

Mirror and RaidZ on only 3 disks
Hi, I have a small Linux server PC at home (Intel Core2 Q9300, 4 GB RAM), and I''m seriously considering switching to OpenSolaris (Indiana, 2008.11) in the near future, mainly because of ZFS. The idea is to run the existing CentOS 4.7 system inside a VM and let it NFS mount home directories and other filesystems from OpenSolaris. I might migrate more services from Linux over time, but for
