Hi, When I login to a Ubuntu 10.04 virtual machine instance running in Xen through SSH, the console''s lines are clipped at the middle section of my 15.6" screen. I''ll be glad if somebody can suggest a fix. This is turning out to be very annoying. Thanks, Kowshik _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I assume you mean that the lines wrap as though the terminal window is narrower than it actually is, and if so then it sounds like the terminal geometry isn''t getting passed from server to client. I''ve noticed similar if I resize a window while in certain programs (I''m using the built in Terminal app on OS X), but if I resize the window again while at the prompt then it will sort itself out. -- Simon Hobson Visit http://www.magpiesnestpublishing.co.uk/ for books by acclaimed author Gladys Hobson. Okay, this is what I''m doing : ssh from laptop ---> machine that runs xen ----> start ubuntu lucid vm using "xm create xen.conf" ----> login to the vm. Now, I''m able to login to the VM. But the console is clipped at the middle section of my 15.6" screen. However, this problem is non-existent when I open a separate ssh session directly to the vm from my laptop. using : ssh user@<vm''s ip address> On Sun, Dec 19, 2010 at 7:34 AM, Bruce Edge <bruce.edge@gmail.com> wrote:> You''re going to have to provide more information. Oh okay. Quite annoying though. I''m not sure if this workaround is obvious to every newbie. What you are suggesting isn''t a "work around". SSH''ing directly to a Linux machine, whether virtual or not, is the general accepted way of administrating a Linux system remotely.
