Hi Yassine, I guess you haven''t checked your Bios-Options yet? Search for Virtualization and enable it. That should fix your problem. Hi again, I just checked your attached files again and something is a bit odd. When I run the following command here on my 64bit dom0 xm info |grep xen_caps I get this result: xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_64 xen-3.0-x86_32p hvm-3.0-x86_32 hvm-3.0-x86_32p hvm-3.0-x86_64 So I guess you''re running a 32bit dom0!? If so, you''re having two problems afaik (maybe somebody can confirm this?): 1. your system can only run 32bit domU 2. your system can only run paravirtualized domU Maybe a BIOS update would help to solve problem 2, because afaik you need to enable virtualization in the bios to make the vmx-feature of your cpu work. But as long as you''re running a 32bit dom0 you''ll never be able to run a 64bit W2K3-Server :-/ This only works the other way round -> 64bit dom0 can run 32bit domUs At work we hopefully get a new ML350 tomorrow. Then I can check where to find the Virtualization option in the bios. Hope this helps, and hopefully someone can confirm what I wrote!? (Obviously, qemu-dm shouldn''t have to execute svm virtualization instructions, unless you try to install Microsoft Virtualization solutions, but there are other differences between AMD and Intel.) _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Hi, Thank you for clarifications, Here is the result of proposed commands : # xm info |grep xen_caps xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_32p #xm info |grep -i hvm (doesn't returne any think) So I'll recapitulate what I understand : My 32-bit system doesn't allow to run 64-bit My Intel platform isn't compatible with AMD platform My HP proliant ML350 BIOS need an update (Age_M, I'm waiting for result about virtualization with your new ML350 ;-) ) Now I've 2 questions : What is the risks to compromise the system operation after a BIOS update ? Witch Microsoft Virtualization solutions allow to run an .img VM ? Hello Yassine, try this: In the POST press F9 to enter the BIOS-Settings-Utility. Then navigate to ''Advanced Options'', then ''Processor Options''. In this screen you should see Intel Virtualization Technology. Just configure it to ''Enabled''. Thats it. The Bios Version is D21 (8/21/2007) Hope it helps, Greetz Age_M Yassine AYACHI wrote:> Hi, > > Thank you for clarifications, Here is the result of proposed commands : > > # xm info |grep xen_caps > > xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_32p > > #xm info |grep -i hvm > (doesn''t returne any think) > > So I''ll recapitulate what I understand : > > My 32-bit system doesn''t allow to run 64-bit > My Intel platform isn''t compatible with AMD platform > My HP proliant ML350 BIOS need an update (Age_M, I''m waiting for > result about virtualization with your new ML350 ;-) ) > > Now I''ve 2 questions : > > What is the risks to compromise the system operation after a BIOS > update ? > Witch Microsoft Virtualization solutions allow to run an .img VM ? > > Thanks for feed back, > > > > > > > 2008/6/10 Age_M <Age_M@gmx.de <mailto:Age_M@gmx.de>>: > > Hi again, > > I just checked your attached files again and something is a bit > odd. Hello Yassine, nothing heard of you yet? I just came along another thread here on the mailinglist and there the vmx feature became available after turning off the Intel TXT (Trusted Execution Technology) feature. Maybe this would help on your system too?
