[Xen-users] Problem with PAE-less processor in xen 3.1.0
Hello xen-users, I have two days (or rather nights) ago start to play with xen. I have quite old laptop without PAE support, so when I try to install xen 3.1.0 there was error saying, that I cannot run PAE-enabled kernel on PAE-less processor. So I build and install PAE-disabled kernel (for dom0), but I can''t find the way to turn off PAE i XEN micro-kernel. Is there any manner to change XEN micro-kernel in 3.1.0 version to be PAE-disabled ? I get folowing messages, when booting xen kernel: (XEN) Xen kernel: 32-bit, PAE, lsb, paddr 0x100000 -> 0x664000 (XEN) Dom0 kernel: 32-bit, lsb (XEN) Mismatch between Xen and DOM0 kernel (XEN) (XEN) **************************************** (XEN) Panic on CPU 0: (XEN) Could not set up DOM0 guest OS (XEN) **************************************** (XEN) (XEN) Reboot in five seconds... -- Pozdrawiam, Łukasz Chrustek _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Re: [Xen-users] Problem with PAE-less processor in xen 3.1.0
Hi, you need to use the same architecture for the hypervisor and dom0. If your hypervisor is PAE, your dom0 also has to be PAE. AFAIK PAE should be no problem on older hardware. cheers Stephan Łukasz Chrustek schrieb:> Hello xen-users, > > >> (XEN) Xen kernel: 32-bit, PAE, lsb, paddr 0x100000 -> 0x664000 >> (XEN) Dom0 kernel: 32-bit, lsb > > In above, I made error, should be: > > Xen kernel: 32-bit, PAE, lsb > Dom0 kernel: 32-bit, lsb, paddr 0xc0100000 -> 0xc042dd3c >-- Stephan Seitz Senior System Administrator *netz-haut* e.K. multimediale kommunikation zweierweg 22 97074 würzburg fon: +49 931 2876247 fax: +49 931 2876248 web: www.netz-haut.de <http://www.netz-haut.de/> registriergericht: amtsgericht würzburg, hra 5054 _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Hello xen-users,> put XEN_TARGET_X86_PAE=n on make (or edit the Makefile), take a look on the > README.>> I get folowing messages, when booting xen kernel: >> >> (XEN) Xen kernel: 32-bit, PAE, lsb, paddr 0x100000 -> 0x664000 >> (XEN) Dom0 kernel: 32-bit, lsb >> (XEN) Mismatch between Xen and DOM0 kernel >> (XEN) >> (XEN) **************************************** >> (XEN) Panic on CPU 0: >> (XEN) Could not set up DOM0 guest OS >> (XEN) **************************************** >> (XEN) >> (XEN) Reboot in five seconds... > This occours whit me about four months ago. I don''t know why I didn''t look at the README... I searched in Makefiles in xen subdirectory :(. Thank You. -- Regards, brushwoodek _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
