[Xen-users] Problem: asms folder is needed when setup winxp HVM
I has a problem of installing windows xp home edition in fedora core 7 with xen 3.1.0. I am using virtual machine manaegr to install winxp home. Things went well until a message pop up as follows "The file ''asms'' on Windows XP Home Editio CD-ROM is needed" A locaton box below this message shows s path "GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROM0\ENGLISH\WINXP\HOME\I386" I checked my cd, there is an ''asms'' folder in ENGLISH\WINXP\HOME\I386, but this HVM seems not able to find this folder. Has anybody faced this problem? Any advice is appreciated. RE: [Xen-users] Problem: asms folder is needed when setup winxp HVM
Some hints based on what I encountered .... a. My success was with XP/Pro ... YMMV with XP/Home b. I chose to use an iso file rather than CD so if you are using a CD, try a file c. I had my install keep hanging at "Starting Windows" and found this page on the RH Site: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_42_10986.shtm Might be a different symptom for the same problem so worth trying. I found the X based console useless as I can''t find any hint as to how to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del via pure X. Use VNC as your basic console ... VNC->X is fine. -----Original Message----- From: Hu Jia Yi [mailto:jyhu@asmpt.com] Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 2:32 AM To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: [Xen-users] Problem: asms folder is needed when setup winxp HVM I has a problem of installing windows xp home edition in fedora core 7 with xen 3.1.0.
