Hello, I''ve installed xen3 and asked myself whats better, image files or partions? I will prefer image files because of the flexible handling, but I''ve heard that real partions are faster. Thanks a lot for any hints? Daniel _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com lists.xensource.com/xen-users

The snapshots feature isn''t stable but you don''t need to use that. I would only use image files for testing purposes. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I also started off with images however moved to LVM. As Andy said the snapshot feature isn''t stable as of now. -- regards, Anand _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com lists.xensource.com/xen-users

LVM has significantly improved performance and responsiveness when I compare domains running on them to domains running on image files. -Eric _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com lists.xensource.com/xen-users
I forgot to add this in earlier mail, the reason why image file degrades performance is because of the loop back interface used to mount those images. The credit for making me aware about this goes to this list and specially Frenando who helped me a lot to understand.
