yea I know this thread is 3 years old. Tell your professor you have a Mac and can't watch the lecture. The solution is for instructors to stop publishing their work on media that forces their students to buy WindBlows. If he's so worried about piracy he can use a copyright and get a lawyer. And search everyone for tape recorders in class.

If you need to play videos - don't use Wine. There are several good native players that can play most everything (ex: vlc, mplayer). If they can't play it (for example DRM protected videos) then Wine won't be able to either. Topic closed.
