wine users - Nov 2011 - Is there anything blocking wine apps from network access?

Hello!

I run Mandriva 2010 with wine 1.2.

I installed Philips Media Connect. (Projects computer screen to TV)
How ever it says that it do not got the network interface avaible, so it do not
work for me.
>From Philips support thet said that I should turn off the firewalls.
(I did not mention that I used Linux )

My firewall is off, accept everything/no fire wall in my settings.

So there seems to be something fishy with the network connection.

All apps from Linux works fine like firefox.

So I ttried to install IE 7 under wine.
It does not either get any network connection.

What do you think guys, what might stopping my wine apps reach the
network/internet?

but if its using windows software to capture the screen its probobly not going
to work (it might on wine apps but not the whole desktop)......im guessing a
CRUDE hack might be to run a VNC server on your linux box and install a windows
VNC client via wine and have it logged into yourself (like I said very
crude)....your best bet probobly would be to get a VGA/HDMI/DVI (whichever one
your using) extender and plug it into the tv.

But how come that my IE 7 do not get any internet access?

You are probably right that it might not work in the end.

But it would feel good to find out the problem about the network connection.

So if you guys got any clues hoe to get IE 7 to work it would be great!

How does this program connect to your television set?  I'm not aware
of any service like this that uses the Internet but rather uses
another method to do this

This may or may not work.  However, can you try installing Firefox for
Windows with Wine and try this?

Philips media connect just uses the LAN with WIFI.
How ever it seems like my wine apps in some how are blocked from network access.

It was a good idea to try also fire fox.

Unfortunately the firefox-webpage is so smart so from my linux machine it keep
giving me firefox for linux. (It does not look that I can download firefox for
windows).

Can you think of any other app that we I can try?

...and I do get access to internet from it.

Then this exercise tell me that there is nothing in Wine that is automatically
blocking my apps.
