Just do a WINEPREFIX="/path/to/wine/wowprefix" wine /path/to/WoW/Wow.exe Works perfectly fine. I even have a script because of the double walking bug (ie gnome or ubuntu send multiple key presses when holding down a button or something, I don't remember specifics, just how to fix it) and to delete my cache for NPCSCAN: ! /bin/bash xset -r 25 xset -r 24 xset -r 39 xset -r 26 rm -r /home/<user>/Programs/WoW/Cache/ WINEPREFIX="/home/<user>/.wineWow" wine /home/<user>/Programs/WoW/Wow.exe xset r 25 xset r 24 xset r 39 -- Sincerely, MacNean C. that didnt work. i used wine tricks to download the trial version of wow and it didnt put it in a normal spot ,the path was file system\proc\1552\fd\3\drive_c\program files\world of warcraft\wow.exe so i loaded it up with graphic settings on low and it works fine....frame rate is good...no problems with graphical glitches....everything except for the water.....no idea how to fix this...wow 3.3 with wine 1.3.15 got a platinum rating
home directory is normal....another odd thing i found was the installation moves randomly. it will be File System\proc\1552\ect. on one launch....then when i try to launch it again i get a 'file not' found so i have to manually track it down to launch it
so the trick to installing warcraft is to not use winetricks....after three installs it kept going under proc\ect....i went to the site and got the setup file and ran it using wine 1.3.27 and now its in the right spot (finally) it is downloading the 10 gigs or so now for the update. as for my wine issues when i updated from 1.3.15 to 1.3.27 the terminal gave me a warning there was binary left from 1.0 so i completely uninstalled everything tracked down a straggler file that was messing with the installs.....(wine-gecko?)and had to reinstall.....from what i can tell everything is preforming properly and in its right spot now....now i just have to wait to test for the water issue and if its still there i give up....thanks for the help all ubuntu 11.04
