Two problems with wine. I have the latest version for suse 11.4 and wine-1.3.12 The "load game" reads the saved files index from the hard drive. It takes a few mins to load. It should cache this list. The sky textures most of the time are solid black. Usually at night in game. MSWIN(XP) doesn't have this problem. Also, these I think are game or graphics driver related. The game will drop to desktop during play. It will freeze up during loading. I will have to use control-alt-esc to exit.

I've just finished playing through Farcry 2 using wine-1.3.24 two days ago. I had no problems with the "load game" dialog (it would show up instantaneously). To get rid of the black sky bug I had to set one of the ingame graphics options to medium (I believe it was shaders), the rest can stay at the highest possible setting. I also experienced a bit of flickering when using HDR, so I disabled that as well. The frequent crashes can be circumvented by shutting down your ethernet devices (i.e. for me: ifdown eth0) before playing. Why this works, I have no idea, but I never had a single crash when eth0 was shut down and when it wasn't it would crash all the time. The only ugly thing remaining is that the game would eventually run out of memory (after 2 - 3 hours of continuous playing), but that seems to be the game leaking memory (not wine related). Of course you have to patch your game to the newest version as this fixes lots of crashing problems that can't be solved otherwise.

This forum is for plain Wine.FYI, Their registration button is not working. I'v already emailed them. I'll have to wait until I get help on fixing the install scripts. Until then, I can't play farcry2. I''ll use them instead manually typing it on here. ;)
