I've installed using WINE, can I just somehow delete the C: drive they
'reside' on? Or is there another way to rid the system of these
applications (including - or not - WINE).

You can of course delete the whole .wine but you will lose *all*
programs installed in it.
Note however that (I'm on Maverick) the gnome menus entries (probably
the KDE ones if applicable) are not automatically removed if unistall
did not work correctlY/
