Hello dear friends [Wink] I have this issue that keeps bothering me. So, I have this software that I' ve been successfully using on Windows XP before migrating to Linux Mint. It's Presonus Studio One, although that don't really matter right now. What matters is when I try to install it using Wine is says "Your computer can not run this software. The required feature set SSE2 is not supported.". Funny... Ok, so WineApp Database has no info on Presonus Studio One, but I don't mind that, because it's not the app that anyone would use. And ,well, the installer launches just fine untill it comes to that message. Does SSE2 have something to do with Wine or just my laptop which according to 'cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep flags' supports SSE2 (and, yes, this was the same machine I would run Windows on with Presonus Studio One working like charm). So what's the problem? Why is this SSE2 (whatever that is) supported in XP and not in Linux Mint? What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
A quick search on Google showed this Wiki page for SSE2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2 It might explain a bit to you.
If your computer supports SSE2, then in theory the app should work. ~ now that being said, whatever method

If it's not the latest development release, upgrade.

This will cause Wine to start VERY slowly, sometimes not at all. And this is not completely a Wine problem, this is a known problem with the CUPS printer access system trying to access the printer and not receiving a response. There is not much that Wine can do about this. James McKenzie
Sorry abaout not giving you any output, dimesio. I missed that one :) Ok, I'm not quite sure what I should input in terminal, but if I try to run, let's say, Zuma from terminal by typing "wine zuma.exe" which usually launches Zuma it just stays blank for a while and after some 3 minutes Zuma launches :)
...and so adding my user to audio group seems to have solved the problem... :? Whatever that had to do with it... :)
I also have tried to install PreSonus with the same error. I have an AMD 64bit running SUSE 11.1. Implicitly I have SSE and SSE2. I am also using CrossOver 10.0 This is an integer controlling function. I tried different bottles - XP and Vista - no luck. It is native in Windows - there should be a similar functonality within WINE to access that as well. Thanks,

I am totally agnostic to the emulator - I just need it to work. >Then tell us what happens when you use Wine. There is a FAQ with helpful hints at http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ. Look at the running a program from the terminal and how to get a log file links. Please do NOT post lengthy logging files here, use a service like pastebin.com or the pastebin at Ubuntu (if you are using this distribution) to put them at and then post the URL to the log file here. If you still require assistance with CrossOver, please visit the CrossOver site and file a report there. You might get asked the same questions from the CodeWeavers support people. James McKenzie

I have not tried WINE yet as I am researching the forums to see if WINE has a solution to the original challenge of recognizing SSE2. That functionality is really related to WINE. CrossOver depends on WINE to provide the core libs to integrate with LINUX. CrossOver simply provides an interface for managing the bottles and apps. CrossOver has no solution for the SSE2 - which led me here. Interesting that although the original poster asked about PreSonus and SSE2 - this has gone down the path of printers and everywhere else - including being pushed out - but no direct answer to the issue. Why doesn't WINE recognize SSE2 compliant CPU's? - or How do I/we get WINE to recognize SSE2?

I simply stated that I get the same error with the same app.
If you still require assistance with CrossOver, please visit the CrossOver site and file a report there.
I NEVER asked for assistance with CrossOver - I simply stated that I used it - I am researching how to get SSE2 recognized by WINE.
