Report any errors received and if possible run from a terminal session: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#run_from_terminal If the output is quite large, capture it to a log file and post to a site like pastebin.com (ubuntu has its own pastebin site as well) and post the URL (only) in this thread: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log (it is the entry below the first one.) How did you get the game to start in the first place? I run it on mac os x but when it doesn't even start up. I get an error message talking about directdraw. Did you get this same error in the beginning?
Also you are talking about diablo 1 correct? Or are you talking about Diablo 2?
Do you have IPX support installed in Ubuntu? It might also be necessary to mess around with capabilities to use the IPX / to run the app as root... (Which is dangerous...) Check if any patches are available that might allow it to work over IP... (New Windows versions dropped IPX support as well) (A generic, standard, Wine and Windows compatible patch/IPX-over-IP emulation layer would make life a lot easier for trying to LAN old games...) Gert
