I tried the following code:

open $HOME/.wine

 and it returned an error, that no such folder existed. I know this means that I
put the folder in some other place. Would it be possible to figure out where the
.wine folder is without manually looking through all of my folders?

Where did you get Wine from?

The default for MacPorts/Fink is $HOME/.wine.

Don't know about other products, you will have to ask on their support 
forums.

BTW, neat trick.  I've got to keep that in mind.
