wine users - Nov 2008 - Failed to install directx9

Hi I'm using winetricks to install directx9 but the installation process
fails with this error  File not found .wine/drive_c/winetrickstmp/set-winver.reg
where is that file or how do I create it my wine version is 1.1.9 and using
gentoo.
