wine users - Nov 2008 - WINE with a 2D only videocard

Is it possible to install WINE with a 2D only videocard??
I have a chipset that is not supported by Linux and I fear it will never be, I
have an SIS 760/761 integrated chipset this chipset is known not to have any 3D
support what so ever.

I can't slap in a new video card because it's in a laptop and to my
knowledge there is no way to put a new videocard into the laptop, so I am hoping
there is some way i can run games with ddraw without Wine3D???

Define pain.

Mesa3d software rendering will turn over wine.     Now if you turn over a game
too heavy you will basically run out of CPU.

Other issue I have seen no work to add fully functional 2d support to X11 for
the SIS cards either.

even if the 2d side works you are still going to run into hell.
