hello, this is the first time i have posted here so if i get it wrong ill say sorry now. anyway to the problem, ive been trying to install a game for my son (4 years old) its called rubbadubbers, based on a childrens bbc show of the same name, it comes on a cd rom and according to the box can be installed on a pc or a mac (dont know if this makes a difference or not) ive installed the game using wine and it all went well, but when i click to run the game i get a pop up box saying " conflict with disc emulator software detected, see securom.com/emulation for more details " ive done some searching and found some references to making sure the disc drives are setup and mounted correctly, which mine are, i have installed a pingu game as well and it runs perfectly. this is the first time ive had issues with wine in this way, and to be honest im a little puzzled as to what to do to fix it. also i dont know if this is relevant or not but, i alos use virtualbox for running some of my open university stuff and i tried to install the game on that and i got the same error, and im not running any emulation software on the virtualbox. im using kubuntu 8.04 and the wine version is the latest. the system has a 3d graphics card (all be it an old one) cheers

as far as i can tell this game is 4 years old, so im guessing the securom version isnt that new which is why i thought it should work, at least according to the link posted earlier versions of securom should work. ive looked through the disc contents but i cant seem to find out what version of securom is being used. just to point out that i get the same error when trying to run it in virtualbox (running xp) this as far as i know has nothing to do with wine, eg - different application, same error. cheers
ive looked for a no disc patch, but havent had any luck finding one, the problem is that its a kids game, and not a game like halflife or that sort so i doubt anyone has bothered to write a no disc patch for it. is there a way round the securom ? like copying the disc contents to the hard drive or something ? cheers
