The future for open streaming solutions at the BBC?
Hi all, I recently emailed a query to the maintainers of BBC London website (http://bbc.co.uk/london) asking if they had any plans to move away from Real Server as a means for streaming audio and Video of their live radio and tv broadcasts to something a bit more cross platform like OGG/Vorbis or even MP3's. The reply I received was : "I'm afr...

[LLVMdev] GSoC 2012 proposal : Integrate Baggy Bounds Checking into SAFECode
Dear LLVM developers: Here is my another proposal of LLVM. Any suggestion would be welcome! * ** * *** Integrate Baggy Bounds Checking into SAFECode*** * * *Abstract:** * Baggy Bounds Checking (BBC) is an efficient bounds checking technique that pad and align objects to powers of two and enable allocation bounds. It uses a contiguous array as bounds table to enable efficient bounds lookup and thus has low overhead at runtime. This project is aims to integrate BBC into SAFECode. ** * * *Mo...

Cessation of BBC Ogg streams
Permission to stream BBC Radio 1 & 4 24x7 ran out today. Radio 4 have said we can go for another week (so that's fine for the first LotR episode), but after that it will cease too. If you enjoyed them, and want to see them return, then all feedback is appreciated - send to webweaver@bbc.co.uk. Some on-demand stu...

Access control question.
Hello, I have a general administrative question concerning Samba shares. I have a large amount of data that about 25 users have limited access to. I only want these users to have access to a sub-set of this data, but I also only want the users to see that which they have access to. So, for example, suppose that the share looks like thus: /smbshare /smbshare/dir1 /smbshare/dir2

Scheduled Ogg streams for testing
Well we're testing scheduled Ogg streaming, but it would be nice to test with an audience bigger then me and a few irc users, so I thought I'd drop a note to the list. http://support.bbc.co.uk/oggstreams.shtml This will contain any scheduled tests to come and anything currently being streamed. For scheduled stuff, only things we're given permission to do by producers can go on there, so don't get too excited just yet. I'll make sure to update the page tho if/when the...

Linux SYSLINUX vs SYSLINUX.EXE
To all or anyone: I have a very strange problem when using syslinux, and lnx-bbc. Perhaps somebody can provide some insight into Syslinux as it relates to what I'm trying to do. At Peerless, we use LNX-BBC to build a bootable USB thumbdrive. We added a script to init.d in the ram disk to execute one our scripts during LNX-BBC boot from the USB thumb drive. I have seen a...

Streaming content from BBC just stops
Hi, I've been trying to listen to the BBC's ogg broadcasts over a 56Kbps modem and have had problems. I can listen to the archived shows, but I get occasonal pauses. I assume this can be fixed by pre-loading a large enough buffer. But when I try listening to the Radio-4 stream, the buffer fills, then I get sound and for maybe 5 more...
