Hello everyone, I would like to bring to your attention the new website that I have been working on. It is a portal for articles, links, and support for everything related to Ogg Vorbis. It just started and hopefully will be evolving rapidly. http://www.ogghelp.com I have modeled it after the group of successful Help pages such as http://VCDHelp.com and DVDHelp.com. I've been working on making the site completely data-driven-- it's all programmed from scratch using ColdFusion. If you are interested in contributing to this site and are knoweledgeful about Ogg Vorbis and digital audio, please get in touch with me and I will setup an account for you. I'm also looking for writers who would be able to share technical knowledge and audio research by writing articles and posting them on OggHelp.com. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well. Thank you! > I'm also looking for writers who would be able > to share technical knowledge and audio research by writing articles and > posting them on OggHelp.com.I'm potentially willing to help with articles. I've already written a basic, low-tech introduction to compressed audio using Ogg Vorbis. I'd be amenable to finding some way to include that information on your site, though I'm a big fan of not duplicating effort, and maybe just a link from your site to my article is a better option, especially because it'd prevent them from getting out of sync. My article is at: http://grahammitchell.com/writings/vorbis_intro.html -- Graham Mitchell - computer science teacher, Leander High School "I guess I kinda lost control, because in the middle of the play I ran up and lit the evil puppet villain on fire. No, I didn't. Just kidding. I just said that to help illustrate one of the human emotions, which is freaking out. Another emotion is greed, as when you kill someone for money, or something like that. Another emotion is generosity, as when you pay someone double what he paid for his stupid puppet." -- Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handey --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Graham, Thank's for your reply. Yes, I used your VERY helpful website when I was throwing together an "Introduction to Vorbis" article. Your article is very well-written, and I like how you start out from basics and work your way up (it includes a broad range of information). It's funny, I was actually planning on sending you an email to ask you if you'd be willing to add to page, but you got to me first! Anyway, if you'd like to add information to the site, please send me a username and password and I'll add you right away. If you're not already familiar with it, you may wish to visit http://rarewares.hydrogenaudio.org/ogg.html for a variety of ogg encoders/decoders, etc. John ----- Original Message ----- From: "FMT Support" <support@freemusictrade.com> To: <vorbis@xiph.org> Sent: Monday, June 16, 2003 8:02 PM Subject: [vorbis] Launch of OggHelp.com <p>> Hello everyone,> > I would like to bring to your attention the new website that I have beenworking on. FMT Support wrote:> Any suggestions would be appreciated as well.Quote from ogghelp.com: "What is Ogg? ogg is an advanced open source digital audio codec (encoder/decoder) brought to you by Xiph corporation and through the contribution of many individuals." Not really correct. The audio-codecĀ“s name is Vorbis. Ogg is "only" a "transport-layer" which will also be used for Theora (Video-codec).
