Hi, there. While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder. First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76 on Windows 98 SE. 1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played. 2. I check the option of 'Scroll song title in the Windows taskbar' in Winamp, but it does not seem to work well with the Vorbis plug-in. It always fails to scroll whole the title. 3. This one is not a bug but a wish. Could you put file size info in the comment information window? This is only one thing I miss from Winamp ID3 tag editor. 4. If you are too busy (or 'lazy'?) to do listing, please use this: A Cappella Acid Acid Jazz Acid Punk Acoustic Alt. Rock Alternative Ambient Anime Avantgarde Ballad Bass Beat Bebob Big Band Black Metal Bluegrass Blues Booty Bass BritPop Cabaret Celtic Chamber Music Chanson Chorus Christian Gangsta Rap Christian Rap Christian Rock Classic Rock Classical Club Club-House Comedy Contemporary Christian Country Crossover Cult Dance Dance Hall Darkwave Death Metal Disco Dream Drum & Bass Drum Solo Duet Easy Listening Electronic Ethnic Eurodance Euro-House Euro-Techno Fast-Fusion Folk Folk/Rock Folklore Freestyle Funk Fusion Game Gangsta Rap Goa Gospel Gothic Gothic Rock Grunge Hard Rock Hardcore Heavy Metal Hip-Hop House Humour Indie Industrial Instrumental Instrumental Rock Instrumental Pop Jazz Jazz+Funk JPop Jungle Latin Lo-Fi Meditative Merengue Metal Musical National Folk Native American Negerpunk New Age New Wave Noise Oldies Opera Other Polka Polsk Punk Pop Pop/Funk Pop-Folk Porn Groove Power Ballad Pranks Primus Progressive Rock Psychedelic Psychedelic Rock Punk Punk Rock R&B Rap Rave Reggae Retro Revival Rhythmic Soul Rock Rock & Roll Salsa Samba Satire Showtunes Ska Slow Jam Slow Rock Sonata Soul Sound Clip Soundtrack Southern Rock Space Speech Swing Symphonic Rock Symphony Synthpop Tango Techno Techno-Industrial Terror Trash Metal Top 40 Trailer Trance Tribal Trip-Hop Vocal The list above is the same as in Winamp's mp3 tag editor. Personally, I'd rather build my own listing than using this flood of information, though. I like the simplicity of this program that allows users to edit the 'genre database' by using ordinary Notepad. Except these rather minor flaws, I can listen to Ogg files without feeling any inconvenience compared with MP3 files on Winamp. Thank you, Peter. ___________________________________________________________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Actually, I have very little understanding about Metal in general. So, please do not use this 'Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report' thread to discuss this area of music. ;-) Well, it's almost spamming but, for sure, I collected the List. Sorry for the reply delay, but I didn't feel like configuring my second email account on fresh win2k install. (1) & (2) are not my bugs (already reported to the right people); you can workaround the problem by enabling 'show average bitrate' in config. (3) - done (v1.12, not released yet) (4) - I've already received genre lists from several sources; I think I'll merge them and put on my website. -Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bacchus 13" <bacchus13@zdnetonebox.com> To: <vorbis@xiph.org> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2001 8:38 AM Subject: [vorbis] Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report> Hi, there. > > While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems > I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder. > > First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76 > on Windows 98 SE. > > 1. Thank you for your replay. Peter>(1) & (2) are not my bugs (already reported to the right people); you can workaround the problem by enabling 'show average bitrate' in config. Sorry if it was a misunderstanding. In fact, I don't know the programming at all. However, there is a Winamp plug-in based on MPG3 decoder (http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopolis/9674/) and it used to have exactly the same problems but ,somehow, they were fixed and it can show real time VBR without the problems. So, I simply thought you could do the same thing to your plug-in. Peter>(3) - done (v1.12, not released yet) Thank you. I am looking forward to the release. Peter>(4) - I've already received genre lists from several sources; I think I'll merge them and put on my website. Yes, the possibility also came to my mind but if I put the list there, I think other users also can copy and paste it to their 'genres.txt.' Sorry that it was redundant, in that case, just regard it as my way of thinking you for your program. ;-) Cheers, ___________________________________________________________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Hi, ORK. Sorry if this sounds patronising but... Probably, you are not accustomed to mailing lists. Before asking something, please make sure if there is a similar question before. ;-) It helps the programmers to concentrate on their works. ---- ORK <korsmo@solungen.hm.no> wrote:> Some Ogg related questions: ...is there any specific date set for thefirst official Ogg Vorbis release, yet??? If you mean RC1, in July...Monty cannot specify the date more than this since the world is ruled by the probability...better ask God or something correspondent in your own religion or belief.> ...will the encoding be faster??Probably, even Monty doesn't know yet. The speed depends on your system...however, definitely the file size becomes smaller mainly thanks to Channel coupling.
