Simply, WRONG INFORMATION! It's not gone but the source only publisized.
The same tactics as Lame's. Sorry, the FAAC project team.

RC2 artifacts
Hello -- I desperately want to start using Ogg compression on music I
release on the internet, but I am encountering a fair amount of artifacts.
I noticed some in beta4 and was hoping they would disappear with RC1.
However, I've been playing with RC2 and I've still been banging my head into
a number of problems. A majority of the music I make has long drones with a
fair amount of spectral

Quality switch
Hello,
just one question:
is it possible to implement a "quality switch" to Ogg Vorbis like the -V
option of the lame encoder?
It's the only thing I'm missing. Everything else is nearly perfect!

splash screen + gfx
Hi
I'm still looking for a good intro splash/credit image for ogg vorbis to
go into ATD's games. The little blue fish is neat but not really up to
scratch or big enough.
I need something that is 640 x 480 and eye catching. :] Is there an
official image apart from the fish?
Think 'bink' and you'll be on the right lines.
I have yet to notice any publicity come from vorbis use

Horses for courses - why not Wine 3.11, Wine 95, Wine 98, Wine NT etc.?
Having unsuccessfully browsed around the Wine FAQ for an answer, forgive my
asking
this directly !
Wouldn't it make a certain amount of sense to have separate Wine projects
with
partially shared codebases, to realise compatibility with the different
flavours of Windows ?
[I have not inspected the codebase, so excuse me if this is already the
case.]
In this way, you are not aiming at a

"vorbiscomment"
Hello,
I'd like to use abcde to rip my CD:s to Ogg Vorbis format - but abcde wants
a "vorbiscomment" in my PATH. I assume it's a tool for inserting meta-data
into Ogg Vorbis files, but where do I get it? The vorbis-tools package
doesn't seem to contain it.
(Platform: Linux)
Thanks!

Winamp decoder plugin user-agent ident
Hi:
Have been testing the latest winamp plugins on my icecast2 stream
(http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg <plug plug>) and I noticed that
in the field where the player/browser is listed in the log entries I see
Mozilla for the winamp plugin. Isn't this ummmm. wrong?

RC2 worse than RC1 and Beta4
After doing an informal (128k) listening test, I have concluded that I
prefer Beta4 over RC2.
The 16kHz low-pass on the RC2 encoder makes it sound like FM radio. Both
encoders SEEM to have a couple of dB bump at 10kHz.

Lossless/lossy hybrid?
Monkey's Audio lossless compressor (currently win32 only, free but not
open-source except decoder) author is thinking to implement a kind of
audiophile-quality lossy compression which would filter "noise bits" that
are hard to encode lossless but which are (or should be) inaudible and thus
improve lossless compression (avg. 300-450kbps). I think that implementing

Batch-Tagging oggs?
Hello all.
Quick question ('Cause I'm famished and have to get something to eat)
If I have a batch of files (wave and/or ogg) with a certain naming scheme.
Would it be possible for me to write a small nifty (newbie) dos-batch
program that could tag those ogg-files (or encode the waves with tags) with
regards to the namin parameters.
Let me clarify. I usually encode waves with the
