Performing a web search (before my prior email), I can only find: _ the original commit (from hpa); _ ./doc/gpt.txt; _ references or quotes of the above; _ references or quotes regarding prior versions of the above. Every list of partition IDs I have seen and every site related to GPT or EFI I have visited is mentioning "EE" and/or "EF", not "ED". Perhaps hpa has some link (?). If every (user and) other software uses "EE" (whichever the "correct" or "desired" or "adequate" or "recommended" ID should be), I (as user) wouldn't want this one-character discrepancy to generate some strange behaviors or unnecessary complications in the future. Regards, Ady. PS: @Ruben, I haven't received your email(s) in my email client. To be able to reply to your email, it was necessary for me to retrieve it from Syslinux Archives and import it into my email client. Perhaps there is something unusual in your original email in relation to the email addresses or in relation to your subscription to the Syslinux mailing list.

Set to 0xED if the bootable partition is from GPT.
4 January 2010 (newer) e09127r3 "EDD-4 Hybrid MBR boot code annex"
Set to the OS Type of the bootable partition (i.e., that would have been assigned had the partition been installed in an MBR disk layout).
So, in the older revision, "ED" is explicitly mentioned. In a newer revision there is no explicit mention of an ID code. I still see popular sites with lists of partition IDs with "EE" and "EF" in relation to EFI, and AFAIK there is no (other) "standard" for GPT in BIOS. I wonder whether other documents / standards explicitly mention *any* partition ID, and whether these IDs could potentially result in future inconsistencies / problems / bugs / hours of tracking down strange (mis)behaviors. Regards, Ady.
