But using the ACM codec I just need to put the speex content into the wave file
data chunk and then windows will play it?

speexenc will make ogg/speex files from a .wav file. The code is
pretty straightforward and should be fairly easy to modify to read
directly from a sound card, if that's what you want to do. If you
don't care about unix support, then you can get the ACM codec for
speex at www.openacm.org. It is my understanding that you can play
these with just about anything using the ACM interface under windows,
but I "don't do windows," so you're on your own there.

in a wav file so it can be played in windows media player. Can u tell me where I
can find info about it?
