Vorbisgain in OggDropPXd
Hi (hope I am in the right mailing list!) I really can't figure out how to use Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd - it doesn't seem to work so far. Can Someone pls. explain detailed (steps) what to do when using Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd? I understand the settings for Vorbisgain are in "decoding options"... why? What I really want is the function of Mp3Gain on Ogg-files, and I thought

RE: Hlp in finding a native Ogg trim, fade & nomalise tool
Hi John A trimer/vcut type application is possible but unfortunately not a fade/normaliser. Not without decoding/encoding. I asked about this a couple of years ago. Unlike MP3, the Ogg Vorbis format doesn't store a global gain setting per frame. I have often downloaded MP3 files from mp3.com and other sources for broadcasting, and with the type of music I need, it is often not normalised

Is Vorbis prone to clipping?
Hi, with the Lame MP3 encoder I reduce the amplitude of the input signal prior to encoding with the --scale option to prevent clipping that can be introduced due to resampling errors. Is Vorbis prone to this sort of clipping? <p>Headless --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a

(Un)Usefulness of Vorbisgain?
I've just Replaygained several of my Vorbis albums with Vorbisgain, ranging from 80's metal to present day soft rock. What I don't understand is why does Vorbisgain actually make all tracks QUIETER? I see an average of -7db on most albums. And after that, not only are they substantially quieter than my MP3s (which is a pain), but it also fails to really "even out" the volume.

wav/raw normalization
Hey all. I was an "early" adopter of mp3 (1994-1995), and I took great pains to use digital audio extractors and avoid jitter and whatnot thru proper hardware - back then, this was no mean feat. Well, I'm starting to switch to Ogg (dragging out all the CD's, starting over) and I want to know if anyone has an informed opinion on the merits or demerits of "normalization"

VorbisGain
Is an "official" vorbisgain source tarball available anywhere for *nix? Seems like everything I've found is a pre-built windows binary... Thanks in advance! Regards, Owen G. Calculation of normalised red and green intensities
Dear Sir/Madam, I could succesfully normalise my microarray data using marrayNorm package. However, i have not been able to get normalised red and green channel intensities through R package. Is there a possibility to write a formula to calculate back the red and green channel intensities after normalisation of the data. Do I need to incorporate this formula in my R script? I am biologist

Problem with defining new method for residuals()
Dear all, I'm writing a package and I would like to reuse the residuals() function. When I use a function which calls the redefined residuals (for my custom class) I get an error (see below). It looks like the wrong method is used. The strange this is, that when it execute the code manually it get no error. Any suggestions? Best regards, Thierry The entire source code is at

How do I "normalise" a power spectral density analysis?
Hi everyone Can anyone tell me how I normalise a power spectral density (PSD) plot of a periodical time-series. At present I get the graphical output of spectrum VS frequency. What I want to acheive is period VS spectrum? Are these the same things but the x-axis scale needs transformed ? Any help would be greatly appreciated Tom

Vorbisgain / Flac
have linux install on my laptop, and decide to clean up my music collection, found allot of my music that has replaygain tags, and allot don't. How would I fix the ones that don't have any replaygain tags, ? have flac and flac123 ogg ogg123 vorbistools and vorbisgain..etc, all installed, can play music fine, but when I hit a song, that doesn't have replaygain tags, need to turn down

ogg: another tag?
I've learned that I can make a tag with vorbisgain that tells the player at what volume a track is to be played to achieve a certain level of loudness. Is it possible that there will be a tag that tells the player for instance to add more bass when it plays a track? Ore more treble? With such tags it would be possible to customize the sound of a track according to my wishes - without

Vorbisgain in ogg123
I'm considering patching my copy of ogg123 to support vorbisgain tags. Is there any interest in folding this sort of patch into the main line ogg123? Has anyone done this already (or to another command line ogg player)? How do I "normalise" a power spectral density
I have done a fair bit of spectral analysis, and hadn't finished collecting my thoughts for a reply, so hadn't replied yet. What exactly do you mean by normalize? I have not used the functons periodogram or spectrum, however from the description for periodogram it appears that it returns the spectral density, which is already normalized by frequency, so you don't have to worry about

Extension to libvorbis for lossless volume changes
I added a new function to libvorbis that allows lossless changes of the volume to an vorbis_block. This can help to get reasonable loudness on hardware players that do not support the Replay Gain tags. int vorbis_gainadj(vorbis_block *vb, ogg_packet *op, float* dbgain); dbgain contains the relative adjustment for each channel. The trick is quite simple. I adjust the first 2 floor values for

oggdropXPd.exe crashes when resampling is activated
I need to encode a WAV to OGG but must resample to 22050 samples per second, but can't do that with oggdropXPd.exe. The application always crashes. What I do is: Start oggdropXPd.exe. Right-click on fish, choosing 'Encoding Options'. Under Advanced Options, I set Re-sample to 22050 samples per second. Click 'Accept'. Drag WAV on fish. In the directory where the WAV originates,

Normalizing grouped data in a data frame
Hi I am a newbie to R but have tried a number of ways in R to do this and can't find a good solution. (I could do it out of R in perl or awk but would like to know how to do this in R). I have a large data frame 49 variables and 7000 observations however for simplicity I can express it in the following data frame Base, Image, LVEF, ES_Time A, 1, 4.32, 0.89 A, 2, 4.98, 0.67 A, 3, 3.7, 0.5
