oggenc (small files)
I've had this problem encoding oggs where the output file is small, like 24kbytes for a 4 minute song (tested at 128 and 160kbit). I'm running Windows 2000 and this has happened in oggenc, oggdrop, and CDEX, though I've also been able to get good encodings with each of these. I think the only clean encodings have been .wav's that I've made myself with SoundForge or CoolEdit,

Encoding or Playback problem?
Hi all, Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of "wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb to it

Some minor refactoring of Oggdrop build environment
I performed a minor amount of refactoring of the build environment for oggdrop. These include: Action: Added a workspace to manage project files and dependencies Purpose: To build all dependent libraries before attempting to build oggdrop -- i.e. provide one-step build process. Instead of opening "oggdrop.dsp", open "oggdrop.dsw" Action: Added

ogginfo: playlength display in milliseconds
Hello Some time ago I posted a lil' patch to this list which adds milliseconds display of playlength to ogginfo. Some folks replied that it's plausible and this patch will be merged to the next version. Vorbistools-1.0.1 got out and the patch is not in it. Why? Anyway, here's this patch for vorbistools-1.0.1. I hope this time you will include it, because milliseconds support is

Quality & ripping speed
Thanks for all the great responses on tools to use - I have Exact Audio Copy and CDex working very well, and I've been working out all the kinks. Two questions, one very Vorbis related, one not :) 1) I know people have asked many times "What quality should I use". Well, I want to ask it again but in a narrower frame. I see less than 10% difference in size between 4.99 and 5.00 -

oggpack_writealign fails
Hi all, In order to get icecast working i found that i had to install libao-0.8.4 libogg-1.1 libvorbis-1.0.1 flac-1.1.0 speex-1.0.3 vorbistools-1.0.1 icecast-2.0.0 So i grapped the source files. I copied all the files to an 32-bit Intel machine, and *there* all files configured, compiled and installed OK But on the intended target machine (SUN blade server) i have a problem... libao and libogg

Something useful to contribute
Okay, since that last entry of mine was on the order of, "Here's another useless almost-funny reply from Mr. Kerezman, please laugh politely now," here's a piece of info that the Wintel users might find useful. http://www.cdex.n3.net CDEX is coming along nicely as a ripping/encoding package for Windows. I very happily use the latest beta, whatever that happens to be at the

dbPowerAMP, CDex / Re: Freeware windows ogg audio CD bur ner?
There's another nice Windows program in the pipeline: Feurio 2.0 (www.feurio.de) will have OggVorbis and MonkeyAudio support. Feurio is a all-in-one solution for CD ripping/burning specialized on audio CD. Feurio supports high speed, high-quality on-the-fly ripping and encoding, and on-the-fly decoding/burning, too. Feurio supports allmost all available CD writers, and there is a

The CDex and Flac saga continues
Hello all, I seem to be in a bit of a bind. Below is the email which I sent to the list a while back. I wrote the vast majority of my CD collection to Flac and checked them with the Flac test (the -t option of Flac), they played fine and all seemed wonderful. Sadly life is no longer roses and chocolates. Now as I come to rip the whole lot to Vorbis files, Oggenc is spewing an error that the
