Windows has a maximum path length, including the filename of 260 characters. I
would guess you were over the limit and would get this same problem with any
codec.

Subject: [vorbis] some weird filename related error
<p> Both OggDropXPd 1.6 beta 13 & the modified version of CDex from
the site i got OggDrop XPd 1.6 beta 13, and the ogg output plugin for winamp
have a problem with this filename:
Pre Club Mix (Mixed by DJ Pete Gooding) - Cafe Mambo The Real Sound Of Ibiza -
David Morales and Albert Cabrera present Moca feat Deanna - Higher (Mo and
Al's Original Mix)
and this one
001_Pre Club Mix (Mixed by DJ Pete Gooding) - Cafe Mambo The Real Sound Of
Ibiza - David Morales and Albert Cabrera present Moca feat Deanna - Higher (Mo
and Al's Original Mix)

first time error (refusing to encode the track) occured, i was encoding from
CD to q3.5.
tried a couple times, on on-the-fly & not on-the-fly mode.
next, i encoded to .WAV using winamps (wa2.8) diskwriter.
I then attempted to encode to Ogg q3.5 using Peter P's vorbis output
plugin. same error occured.
next, i tried doing the same with OggDropXPd 1.6 beta 13, same error again.
only way to make it work with that file name was to cut off everything past
the "001_" (added to the filename by wa2.81 after diskwriting), then
used OggDrop- it worked.

Basic point- does ogg vorbis encoders have a problem with lengthy filenames?
