16 KHz clip-off?
Hello,
congratulations to the Ogg Vorbis team - RC2 sounds good.
But... RC2 in 128 kbps mode seems to clip off all frequencys
beyond 16 KHz. On the tracks I tested Beta 4 gave response
even beyond 18 KHz.
Some testings on a randomly chosen track:
(other tracks gave similar results)
Artist: Judas Priest
Album: Jugulator
Title: Bullet Train
Beta4: 127 kbps, ~ 18 KHz (!)
RC2: 132 kbps (!), ~ 16

Vorbis for PlayStation
you can write your own software mixer that can decode MP3 on the PS2 so I
can't see why you can't do that with ogg, however, even mp3 is processor
intensive and programers are not going to give up that much processor power
which will decrease or detract from the rest of the game. However, I'm sure
there are some people out there that have been able to work around this.
Regardless, ps1

Winamp 2.77
Hello,
anyone with an idea why Peter´s great plugin is not included with
the latest full-install of Winamp? I thought it was planned
to release Winamp 2.77 with Vorbis support...
bye,

Decoder speed: Test on slow machine
Hello everybody,
today I had some time to test Peter´s decoding plugin on a very
slow machine. My setup:
- Pentium "classic" @ 50 MHz (underclocked!)
- Mainboard with Mercury Chipset (I think)
- CD-ROM and HDD in PIO-Mode (CPU intensive)
- MAD16 Soundcard (ISA slot, CPU intensive)
- Win95B, Winamp 2.76, Decoder Plugin 1.16 (RC 2)
The hardware setup is something like the

I'm currently working at a German translation for the vorbis-tools.
Just for the case someone has already started it.

New Winamp release
Hi,
<p>today, Winamp unaskedly notified me of a new release, v2.78. I checked
the what's-new-page on winamp.com (it does only mention a few fixes and
cddb2 support, not that I needed that) and downloaded the full install,
hoping that Ogg Vorbis support is finally included. D'oh, since I
installed it into the 2.77 install directory will all the plugins
already installed, I can't

Lossy Audio Compression Research
Hello everyone,
I'm a student at the Universtiy of Delaware, and will be soon starting
some research on the effects of lossy audio compression on speech sounds. I
will be preforming test with both mp3 and vorbis.
First of all, if I use the '--ogg' switch to lame, does lame use GPSYCHO
to encode the wave, or some other psychoacoustic model (perhaps one designed for

Some pre-RC1 listening tests
Hello everyone,
ff123 compiled Monty's branch of the RC1 encoder, see his post on
r3mix.net forum:
http://66.96.216.160/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=c&action=display&num=994299736&start=30
Anyway it only supports ~128kbps mode, so I did a quick listening
test with some files that bugged vorbis beta4.

Vorbis 1.0 before the end of the year?
Hi guys.
IMO now it's definitely time for finalizing Vorbis and throwing it
in the arena.
Two reasons:
- RC2 sounds wonderfully well, I'm really amazed how good it is..
and I personally think there's little room for further improvement in
sound quality..
- portable music devices are starting to take off (see Waitec, Creative,
Apple and many other vendors).
Wouldn't be good

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report
Hi, there.
While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems
I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder.
First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76
on Windows 98 SE.
1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended
in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played.
2. I check the option of

OggSplit 0.1.0
Hello again!
As promised, here's a completed package of OggSplit. It's configured
with autoconf and automake (use autogen.sh) and there are debian build
rules. In it's current state it's quite useable, although there are
certain internal things which could be improved (nothing critical
however).
There are of course bugs, so I encourage everyone to try breaking the
tool with

nested repeated measures in R
R help,
How would I input data, verify assumptions, and run a nested repeated
measures ANOVA using R? I have STATION nested in SITE nested in BLOCK with
measurements repeated for five YEARs. All are random variables and it's only
slightly unbalanced. I'm trying to characterize spatiotemporal variation in
stream habitat variables. Thanks for your help!

Could this information be gathered by having one thread encode a
downsampled version of the input video sequence, or would this be a bad
predictor?
Who knows,
