One problem down, one to go...(I think)
Thanks for all of the tips I received on my earlier query concerning not seeing the share on Win95 Network Neighborhood. I was able to resolve it by incorporating the smbd and nmbd in my inetd.conf. Why it didn't work as command-line daemons is anybody's guess.(Thanks Mr. Gates). Anyway, I have this box(FreeBSD2.2.2) using a remote printer on an HP-UX 10.10 system. It is all configured

Samba and Novell
WARNING Newbie question WARNING I am attempting to get Samba up and running. It is installed on a RH5.2 box, and everything went pretty well. I can see the samba box in Win95 network neighborhood, but I can's connect to it. I am suspecting that the Novell 4.1 box on our network is interfering. I can't seem to find a good document on samba/novell stuff, so any assistance would be

Latest switcher patches, bugfix.
I've attatched a patch to fix a bug in the latest switcher patches that got put into CVS. Basically, window order with minimized windows is undefined, and this fixes it. Also, I notice that in some cases switcher fails to get an icon for a window. Perhaps the icon code is forcing a search for a specific size, rather than 'best-fit'? Also, the patch allows usage of alt+shift+tab (in

can't get samba 3.0.14a to work with ldap
Hi... If you have successfully gotten samba 3.0.14a (or any other recent samba version) to work with ldap, can you perhaps email me your various config files so I can figure out what I am doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried every thing I can think of, but I can't get samba 3.0.14a to work with ldap. The ldap server seems to be working and smbclient seems to

[PATCH] Link breaks for large NR_CPUS
ext2 & ext3 lists, Attatched is a patch that allows ext2 and ext3 to link correctly when the kernel is configured with a large NR_CPUS. We do have an immediate need for this patch. Any opinions on this? The per-cpu lists are causing the kmalloc to fail due to allocating more than the max. thanks mh -- Martin Hicks Wild Open Source Inc. mort@wildopensource.com

A polar.plot BUG in plotrix 1.3.3 ?
Hi, I just updated to R-2.1.1 and updated packages acordingly However, after the update, routines that use polar.plot did not function as correctly. In plotrix 1.3.3 the polar.plot function does scale label.pos to radians prior to calling radial.plot Hence, the command polar.plot(c(5,10,5,0),c(-10,0,10,20),rp.type='P',

Can USB:syslinux install another USBstik?
When a USBstiked-syslinux starts, it's the PC's firmare that's reading the USB ? But once the USBsyslinux takes over, has IT also got a USB driver? Since my MotherBoard & 2009 Slackware built USBstik syslinux booter were stolen I bought a <WinTel> laptop and USBextender to access my old IDE & SATA disks. With WinTel's new arrangement of not allowing the tail of the

[LLVMdev] GCMetadataPrinter::finishAssembly not executed?
Yiannis, Pedro, I'm not an expert here. Taking closer look I see that it makes sense to do this cleanup job in doFinalization() of the pass, which requested GC info. So the current fix seems to be ok and all external clients will need to do cleanup directly doing the same jobs as Printer::doFinalization() does now. By the way, I've just noticed that comments for GCModuleInfo::clear()

XEN 2.0.1/Xenolinux 2.6.9 domain0 not booting on Debian Sarge / P4 Xeon
Hi all I am in the process of upgrading my XEN servers from 2.4 to 2.6 kernels as I am having better results on 2.6. However one machine (the big daddy) refuses to boot a 2.6.9 xenolinux kernel. It''s an IBM eSeries xServer x205. I have selected what i think are the appropriate options in menuconfig but it refuses to boot into dom0. By refuse I mean it initialises the hypervisor,

patches to fix bugs in upstream gconf plugin and actions implementation
I found (after much valgrinding and other things) a bug in the gconf plugin that was causing crashes, and another bug that was preventing bindings from getting set properly. videolan
Everyone might be interested in knowing that videolan's cvs tree, combined with the excruciatingly simple patch attatched, is capable of playing back chained ogg/theora+vorbis streams. (encoded with example cvs). For example, icecast video. videolan has decided to parse vorbis, speex, theora headers with its own code. There's an ogg demuxer (the file I patched) and the codecs are each

Samba 2.2.2 as a PDC for XP logins
And you have user and machine accounts that work? I had actually a big problem joining a Samba PCD from a Windows XP machine. However I don't remember what exactly I had to do to make it work. (I never changed the Samba settings, just fiddled around in Windows.) //Anders > Yeah, all applied but still no luck > -----Original Message----- > From: Anders Widman

Seek failure with very short files
I was wondering when it would be useful to compress very short audio files. The answer may be when there are lots of files, for instance in the case of sound fonts, or a large collection of transients. Probably it would be better to compress the whole collection as a single large file obtained by juxtaposing the short clips, with cues or marks to separate the original files. May be this

TDM400P question.
I am about to try our TDM400P E model from the developer kit (not the "Lite") we just got and noticed a large number of reported problems. I had the CVS from Sep 12 (or so the CVS/Entries file has in it). My drivers seem to modprobe fine. My card show up as "Found a Wildcard FXS: Wildcard S400P Prototype (4 modules)" in dmesg and no apparent errors...yeah. Is "S400P
