Snooker 147 JHC Software
Hi there I've been trying to get my dad off windoze as it's rubbish! People are very funny about Linux. If they can't run their little windows apps correctly they go back to the darkside. I've skinned Ubuntu to look exactly like XP ( sad I know ) but that works. The only problem is getting his snooker game to work properly. This is the program:

Bubblez
If you got tired for some reason from bubble shooter (which is highly unlikely), you can always try something different. Bubblez is different that's for sure. Unexpected that's a good word to describe bubblez. Every bubble you shoot there are 10 more added to the screen. Sounds crazy, well it is crazy. Take your time and play this bubble shooter game for a bit, we're sure you'll

Swarm (win95 game) leaving fragments
Hi all, installed the old space shooter Swarm and it is running fine pleased to say except artefacts of lasers and rockets that have been fired staying on screen for up to another 6 seconds. This is as you can imagine a bit irritating as they move with and stay on the screen. Wine x.19. Have set the game to 'unmanaged' by the window manager as was suggested here in another thread, but

Half-Life(First Person Shooter) is using Speex
Martin Otten did most of the work to get Speex up and running for our games about a month ago, and we just recently released it to the Steam beta. So far it appears to be working pretty well, and we're interested in doing more work using Speex going forward. I'd love to hear any feedback that people have using it, especially at the different quality settings. The information on how it

Hydorah on wine
Hi, I'm trying to run this game called Hydorah, a retro styled space shooter in the style of Gradius, on Ubuntu 10.04 with Wine 1.3.0 from ubuntu-wine ppa. The problem is, that when I start the game it goes on like normal for couple of seconds. The intro graphics are shown and they work as normal for a while, but then it freezes and the music continues to play onwards. When pressing a button

[1.3.13]-Valve's STEAM Games Do Not Work... Hi, I've mentioned this several times already and did not receive a response. Printing troubles.
Hi, I've recently set up LPRng on my system in preparation for moving my organisation to a Samba/Linux based printing solution. I have a test printer properly set up, and issuing lpr commands from the command line works fine. I also have Samba set up with domain security and all the file sharing is also working OK. Whenever I try to print a test page to my Samba shared printer, I get the

Sound skips in all games since Wine 1.1.6
In 1.1.5 the sound/music in games played allright. Since 1.1.6 it skips badly - plays for a couple of seconds, then stops for half a second, then plays again, then skips and so on. Happens on every game on Steam - Team Fortress 2, Everyday Shooter, Peggle Extreme - and also without Steam - Icy Tower. I have Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card. I've found that in Winecfg when I choose Alsa driver

Printing problems with Samba 2.2.3a
Hi, I've been using Samba 2.0.5 successfully for a long time and am now trying to configure 2.2.3a under Debian GNU/Linux 3.0. I've succeeded with the exception of one printer share. What makes this frustrating is that the share is mostly functional, but I haven't been able to find my problem described anywhere else. We have two HP printers, a LaserJet 4000N and a LaserJet 5N,

mouse lag and slow connections
RedHat 7.1 w/ Ximian Gnome Kernel 2.4.9 When I'm playing HL CS 1.3 with Wine-20010822 from the rpm, the mouse movement is choppy enough to frustrate you when you're playing a first person shooter. I want to say that when I installed it earlier this year it didn't have this problem but I'm not sure. Of course, when I play in Win2K, this doesn't occur. The other thing that can
