Hi all, installed the old space shooter Swarm and it is running fine pleased to say except artefacts of lasers and rockets that have been fired staying on screen for up to another 6 seconds. This is as you can imagine a bit irritating as they move with and stay on the screen. Wine x.19. Have set the game to 'unmanaged' by the window manager as was suggested here in another thread, but this did not help it. Do I maybe have to edit the wine config file to force higher refresh rate, or is there any other solution? Thank you, Bernard

Does it give better or worse graphics? Daniel

It would be nice if this could get fixed, although as time goes by I guess it will become less important and efforts will go into making newer games run. However with Wine progressing steadily towards 1.0 this bug should be gone by then. Thanks, Bernhard

It's been around forever, and also affects my copy of Jeff Minter's Gridrunner++.. That game is completely unplayable, as the uncleared elements fill the screen quickly. I think I filed a bug for it years ago. That bug's not present in the cedega/winex fork, so you might try that. Its support for old games is often poor, though. (GR++ stopped working in one of the recent versions, but I haven't checked in a while.) Hopefully it'll get fixed sometime soon, DirectX is undergoing some major overhauling ATM. -- - Mantar --- Drop YourPantiesSirWilliam to email me.
