Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello,
I am looking at the Polycom phones.
The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over
the ip500 and ip300..
Is it worth the extra dollars?
Kind regards

Polycom SoundPoint 501 Problem
I'm attempting to set up my SoundPoint 501 with my Asterisk server. I've
configured DHCP and TFTP and successfully updated both the BootRom and
SIP application. I've also created a custom cfg file for this phone's
MAC address and the settings seem to be taking just fine. I can see that
the phone registers with my Asterisk server but 'sip show peers' reports
that the phone

'500 Internal Server' Error on SIP NOTIFY
Is anyone getting '500 Internal Server' errors back from their Polycom phones when Asterisk sends a SIP NOTIFY message to them?
I called Polycom tech support, who where utterly useless.
Of course Polycom won't officially support it anyway, as they only support Asterisk Business Edition. We're using 1.2.9, but it's been ocurring for quite some time. We have about 35 phones and

"Error" on Polycom 501 & 601.
Hi, all. Every now and then, some of my users get "Error" on their
phones. A reboot fixes it, but it's quite annoying/inconvenient. I'm
running Asterisk 1.2.4, and have the following firmware, etc.:
Bootrom: 2.6.2.0032
BootBlock: 2.5.0(11500_030)
SIP application: 1.6.2.0041
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
Thanks!

Polycom IP4000 - Device does not match ACL
I am trying to configure a Polycom IP4000 for use with Asterisk 1.4.5 on
a flat local network.
I followed the provisioning guides that I found on the Web, and I have
the phone downloading bootrom.ld, sip.ld, and a bunch of configuration
files. This all works properly.
However, I receive the following error:

OT: Polycom BootRom 3.1.3 and vsftpd 2.0.3 WARNING!!!
Hello everyone,
Please forgive the exclamation points but I have been battling this one
off and on for about four days now. Sorry for the cross post.
It all started with a box of IP 501s. I contacted my reseller and
obtained the latest BootRom and SIP firmware. Unzipped, configured,
copied over to my FTP server (running AstLinux, of course). The phone
booted, so far so good. Updated

Newbie Polycom: IP600 Headset Problem
I have been testing with Polycom IP600 phones for a month or so.
I found out that there are frequent problems with the handset.
The problem is I can hear the other end but the other end cannot hear
me.
I have already downloaded the latest bootROM 3.1.3 and sip 2.1.2
However, there are no problems with the headset or speaker phone.
Has anyone encountered such problems before?
Thanks.

SIP phone as intercom
(new asterisk user - currently setting up Polycom IP600 phones)
Does anyone know if it's possible to make a sip phone instantly pick up
on speakerphone when a particular call comes in? Eg so that you can
quickly bother someone across the office without making them reach for
their phone?

Newbie Polycom: DHCP/boot server supporting 2 models of phones
I have a question about DHCP and boot server supporting more than 1
model of Polycom phones.
According to Polycom "standards", Polycom phone boots up to get a DHCP
address and at the same time getting a boot server string (with username
and password) to logon to boot server to download SIP, bootROM and etc.
That is okay if there is only one type of phone (that requires a

Polycom phones
I have a couple of Polycom phones, bootrom 2.5.0, SIP 1.3.1.0056. Works
great with Asterisk when I power on the phone. However, after some time,
say an hour, I cannot receive calls on this phone. On Asterisk, when I
do "database show", it does show the phone in there, but it cannot reach
the phone. Is there a way to keep alive the connection with Polycom?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Polycom IP 501 phone randomly resets itself (loses Received call log, Missed calls, placed calls)
I've been noticing that my group of Polycom IP 501 phones seems to
randomly reset themselves nearly every night (I guess it usually
happens at night, since I've never seen it happen while I've been at
work during the day)..
When I say "reset", I mean, the hands free volume and ring volume are
set to the default and the call logs (received calls, missed calls,
placed calls)

"Sticky" Polycom 501 keys and handset
Hi,
I've recently bought new Polycom 501 phones, upgraded to bootrom 3.2.2 and
SIP 2.0.1. I just noticed something, which I first blamed on Asterisk and
NATs (a 2 second silence at the beginning of a call). Something I've
noticed also on my old phone (which is having the same problem now, but its
also been upgraded).
My keys are sticky. Simple as that. Sometimes I press a number

random one way audio and noise betweenSIP phoneson same LAN
Giorgio,
I'll answer in reverse order:
I've not had reports of "noise" from my users. However, when I went down to
get the s/w version from the phone that seems to be acting up the most, the
user reported that earlier they were actually on a call that was ok then
spontaneously dropped the audio. Per my instructions (based on another
similar report I read on Digium's site),

Best BootRom & SIP Code for Poly600?
Hey all,
Just getting started playing around with my Polycom 600. According to
the wiki, it looks like it's recommended to run BootRom 2.6.1 and SIP
1.4.1. Is that info still current, or is it safe to upgrade to 3.0.1
and 1.5.2?
