Voice recognition application - VoIP/Open Source
Hi all,
Anyone knows of any Voice Recognition applications which use VoIP?
Preferably open source.
I am basically trying to build a Voice Call Router, something to recognize a
spoken name and then transfer the caller to the right party's extension?
TIA.

[OT] Wifi SIP phones - LinkSys WIP330
Hi List,
Hope everyone is recovering from the festive season :) (ok we still have
new years i guess!)
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has had any successful dealings with
WiFi phones and operation with '*' at all?
I've been keeping my eye on the LinkSys WIP330 (
http://preview.tinyurl.com/nccxn ) and wondered your collective thoughts?
Would I be correct in thinking that (as

MIGRATE SHARES always fails
Hi,
I have an Ubuntu 8.04 box running as Samba PDC (version 3.0.28a) with
an LDAP backend, and I tried to migrate a share from a Win2003 server
to the Samba box. However, running the "migrate shares" or the
"migrate files" commands always results in errors:
$ net rpc share MIGRATE SHARES data_share -S w2k3box -U <admin>
--destination=localhost

Testing UK emergency dialing and LCR.
Hiyall.
Just wondering how people test your emergency dialing in the UK.
Obviously you need to dial the 999 for emergency services, but am a bit
unsure if this would go down too well with the operator with a 'sorry
just testing' call. (you do all /test/ your emergency dialing dont
you!?:-) )
As another thing, what is the correct method when using least cost
routing... If you have a

colors for background and plotting area
Dear all,
I am trying to prepare some figures where I'd like the color of the plot region
(i.e., the area bounded by the axes) to be different from the margin area
(i.e., the area of the figure not within the axes region). I can use "bg" but
that changes the background of everything? How can I accomplish what I want?
Thanks,
Ramon

Memory is fuzzy and no ECC in my wetware :) but as I seem to recall it had
to do with my fears over filenames not being standardized enough / this
interfering with the update-alternatives mechanism. May well have been

Modem
Hello list,
Why PC modems were not used as FXO devices? Why chan_modem was deprecated?
it seemed a nicer option instead of buying expensive gateways.

removing NULL elements from a list
Dear All,
I have a list, where several components are NULL, and I'd like to obtain that
very same list without the NULL components (i.e., I do not want to unlist or
otherwise loose the rest of the list structure). I can do that with a loop,
but how could I do it without a loop?
Thanks,

bzlib, pcre and zlib still needed in rules?
Dear All,
I just
apt-get source r-base-core
and noticed that file "rules" under ./r-base-3.2.4-revised/debian
contains (lines 277 to 279)
--with-system-bzlib \
--with-system-pcre \
--with-system-zlib \
I wonder if these are still necessary and, in fact, when building R alpha
(specifically, R-alpha_2016-03-21_r70361.tar.gz) I get a warning saying
that those options are not

using zlib (was compress data on read, decompress on write)
Dear All,
I think I am confused about how I'd be able to use zlib starting with
R 2.7.0. I just downloaded the latest development version, built it,
etc, but I am not able to find the zlib.h that, I believe, R should
place somewhere under "where/you/want/R/to/go" (from
--prefix=/where/you/want/R/to/go). There seem to be entry points for
zlib in the binary (e.g., grep -r gzopen ./

compress data on read, decompress on write
Dear All,
I'd like to be able to have R store (in a list component) a compressed
data set, and then write it out uncompressed. gzcon and gzfile work in
exactly the opposite direction. What would be a good way to handle
this?

We have a package that uses C; part of the C output is a large sparse
matrix. This is never manipulated directly by R, but always by the C

I need help to achieve a simpler code to complete a
