Which IP phone to use in Australia
Hi, all I am in Australia and I have to setup Asterisk in few offices. There will be IP phones in each office and I must be able to call between offices. I need actual handsets. I need "standard" handsets to be used by people. Those must support features like CID, call forward, etc. --- your normal office feature set. Also I need some sort of more complex handset to be used by

Silly question: Why multiple lines on SIP phones?
This is probably going to sound really silly and I must be confused about it. Maybe someone can set me straight. I've been tinkering for a while with * and a number of different FXO/FXS cards, SIP phones, and ATAs trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. In the SIP phone group, I have a Cisco 7940G, a Polycom 500, and now an SPA-841. Each of these allow me to configure at

Phone choices....opinion request Polycom vs Cisco
Hi I am struggling with hardware choices to get started with. My options are narrowed down to SIP phones - Polycom IP500, IP600 and Cisco 7940G. of importance is: - functionality / integration with asterisk - headset functionality and use - voice quality - build quality Is there much of a difference between Polycom and Cisco? Scanning the group it looks like there may be slightly more

Remotely dialing calls from a polycom phone
I have a Polycom IP600 serving as a receptionist phone. We developed a call manager via c/gtk that runs on a touchpad. It allows them to transfer calls, transfer to voicemail, page, etc. The problem is this: When paging another phone from the touchpad, I have to open a channel to the receptionist phone. This rings the receptionist phone. When she picks up, it then pages the desired person. This is

Realtime Problem = Segmentation faults
Hi: I had asterisk with RealTime database working perfectly in a RH 9.0 machine. I used the sip cache so I even had MWI working. The problem is that I decided to move to Fedora Core 3. I installed the lastets cvs version of asterisk and the RealTime addon from asterisk-addons. I at first had the problems with the kernel and the zaptel driver but all that was solved with the

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is someone else complaining

Any suggestions for an IP phone?
Hi all, We are in the process of selection IP Phones to work with our *new* Asterisk PBX. We want to buy 4 for something less than 1000$ but with a nice set of features to work with our mail box, lines, good sound quality, full duplex (and maybe speaker phone). Any suggestions for something with good voice quality and not much troubles to setup with Asterisk? Voici quality is the most

Polycom IP 600
I am getting ready to install Asterisk and I was looking into the Polycom IP600 phones. I spoke with Polycom sales to verify the multiple line appearance and they said it would work. More specifically, if lines 1-3 all contain the same SIP registration info, the Polycom will only send out 1 SIP registration to the server and then handle the calls ringing on multiple lines. I was wondering if

Polycom IP600 - no ring?
Have a strange problem... When a C7960 calls the Polycom ip600, the ip600's first line button blinks, the ip600 display shows the proper callerid, but the phone does not ring at all. If I call the same ip600 from a bt102, the ip600 rings properly. If I call the same ip600 from another C7960, the ip600 rings properly. All phones and asterisk are on the same lan within a few feet. Sayson IP Phones?
Have the Sayson IP phon started to deliver yet? I'm thinking about two new phones for my office and considering the Sayson 480i and Zultys 4x4. Would also consider the Virbiage phone if it becomes available. I have Snom 200s and a Pingtel phone at the moment. Michael -- Michael Graves mgraves@pixelpower.com Sr. Product Specialist

Polycom and CallerID
I'm having a problem with the callerID that the polycom IP600 phones are displaying. I would like to modify the CIDName and leave CIDNumber as exactly what the phone call came in as(provided they aren't hiding callerID). Most of the calls will be going to the queue, but a few will go directly to the SIP phones. I've done a various combinations of using SetCallerID(),

Polycom 601 -- programming buttons.
Hi, all. I want to have a button on my receptionist's 601 that, when pressed, will forward her current call to a given extension. Is there any way to do that? I've tried to RTFM, but I'm coming up empty. Thanks, -Ken D'Ambrosio

Asterisk and Polycom Soundpoint IP600
This Polycom phone seems to be one of the best on the market for sound quality and features. I have seen on the list that some people have gotten the IP 600 to work with Asterisk. Does anyone have the details of how to get this working i.e. XML phone config files, and any thing else I might need to know. Thank You, Chad Cowan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

SIP MWI and MySQL Realtime
I know that there are some patches being worked on to cache realtime users that might ultimately fix this problem, but until then, here is a little script that brings back the MWI when using the excellent mysql realtime architecture with sip: http://www.cheapnet.net/~mike/asterisk/send_mwi.txt This script relies on sipsak utility found at http://sipsak.berlios.de/ Download, rename to

why does the Polycom IP600 check FTP every 60 seconds...
Hi, I am mostly happy with my Polycom IP600 but it apparently needs to check the FTP server every minute. I couldn't find any obvious setting related to that behavior in the configuration files. Any idea how to curb the IP600's spurious network activity? Thanks, -- Lord, protect me from your followers.

Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello, I am looking at the Polycom phones. The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over the ip500 and ip300.. Is it worth the extra dollars? Polycom IP600 Phantom Ringing
Hello list: I have a very odd problem. Seemingly randomly, my Polycom IP600 phones will ring without a call being placed to it. That is to say, a random phone will ring. Nothing shows up under Caller ID. Even the buttons that light up to show an incoming call do not light up. If you pick up the handset, you can hear the phone ring through the speaker. Hanging up the phone makes it stop

fwd on busy when calling multiple extensions at once
Hi, I am setting up a dispatch center where will have 4 call takers, all with Polycom IP 600 Sip phones. Each phone will be setup with 6 extensions each. When a new call comes in, the first extension on all the phones will ring. This works fine, the problem is when one of the dispatchers is already using her first extension and another call comes in. What happens now is that the remaining 3

More HEAD wierdness (chan_sip, jitterbuffer/PLC problems)
Hello, After checking out CVS HEAD from yesterday (for those new PLC/Jitterbuffer patches), I was affected by bug 3795 with my Polycom IP600's. After seing it resolved as of this morning (thanks Mark), I decided to try again... I can answer incoming calls. No problem there. Putting calls on hold, however, results in my Polycom IP600 indicating the call on hold, but the caller does
